She needs, wide open spaces wooo-oo!
Leaving Melbourne was sad in one way, happy in another. Coming back to Perth was a lot easier for me ( thank goodness). I packed up my house onto a removal truck. Cleaned out my flat. Worked up to the day before I left and passed final rent inspection. Mum saved my life! Thank goodness she was there!
My final day, work had a big morning tea for me, my friends said goodbye and I cried a little. I stuffed my car full of stuff and bid farewell to my freezing little unit on Grimshaw St. Mumma and I drove to the motel and I finally relaxed. That night I took mum to see Wicked! and of course she loved it. I did too even though it was my 5th viewing!
The next day we hit the road, having a lovely day driving the Great Ocean Rd, seeing Bells Beach, the 12 Apostles and some really amazing coastline. The weather was crazy - rainy, gusty winds and foggy at times but we managed! I even replaced an indicator bulb and fixed a windscreen wiper blade. I am quite the mechanic. We then drove inland to Bordertown and spent our first night in South Australia.
The next day was Anzac Day and we drove, litening to lots of talkback radio and Anzac stories, through Adelaide and out to Kimba - a lovely rural town in S.A. that is extremely hospitable but unbelievably cold!!!
The next day was long and stormy as we drove tthrough the rest of South Australia and stopped for Lunch in the middle of... well... nowhere. Wide open and spacy enough? Methinks so.

This leg of the trip, although the longest also took us past the bite. The Great Australian Bite. This is where you can start to feel a little insignificant. It's beauty is terrifying and majestic all at once.

And then we reached it. The border. WAHOO! This is mum standing in two places and timezones at once.

So what do you do on the border? Well do as Eucla does (Eucla was our destination that night - very close to the border). Make up your own timezone. 45minutes later than Adelaide and 45 minutes earlier than Perth.
Eucla is tiny and fresh food is not easy to come by. In fact the only place to eat out or purchase anything is at the motel we were at. Kinda ghostlike. Cool though, you can hear the ocean at night.
It is funny you can be in Western Australia and still a couple of days from home. It did feel good to be back in W.A. though. Day four is long and boring. The Nullabour plain. We did see Kangaroos, Emus and Dingoes. No camels unfortunately. We also passed the bra tree, thong tree, kitchen tree and miscellaneous tree. Not to mention Belladonia - Austrlia's own Roswell. There is an UFO Museum there - and a cute boy working at the servo.

We had our last stop in Norseman. It seems we only go to Norseman on public holidays, but we had our regular steak burger and got some sunshine before sleep. Oh I got so much sleep on the days it took to get home. It was lovely! Sorry to mum for the last day. I barely stopped because I wanted to get home so badly!
Last stop Sorrento! YAY!
Hopefully not in Sorrento for long -
there is a little house in Kingsley waiting for me!
